Since early childhood, in an isolated area of Newfoundland, Dawn has always had a love for animals and nature, as well as a special connection with individuals with special needs. She volunteered with numerous different animal shelter organizations and for The Baie d’Espoir Adult Independent Living, helping people with diverse challenges become more functional members of society. In 2006, after obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Education, Dawn became a certified Obedience instructor. This experience opened doors for her in Cinema as an animal trainer and in canine competition for obedience, tracking, and protection. In 2008, she founded Elite K9 Services while continuing her part-time employment for the Special Services Department at Holy Spirit High School, working with adolescents exhibiting a spectrum of cognitive dysfunction and behavioral disorders. Dawn currently resides in Quebec where she teaches English and raises, trains, and competes with her German Shepherds across the country.
